Behind the scenes library event

ASAK all parents,

We had a lovely time at the Schaumburg library going behind the scenes and seeing the journey of the books from the drop box back to the shelves. It was funny standing on the other side of the drop box and seeing all the returned books popping out behind the curtains as if by magic. Our dear librarian also took us around the youth section and gave us interesting information about Chicago's past and different artifacts around the library.

As part of learning to be thankful, the the girl signed up a thankyou card and presented it to the librarian. This reminds me of a nice article to share with your girl scouts since they will be doing a similar activity in April: http://www.yourhoustonnews.com/champions/living/article_ee1ed67e-2cc5-584a-a352-7d4faa48de03.html

After the tour, the girls sat in the cozy cafeteria and had pizza and later worked on painting their Girl Scout T-shirts if they were absent from the first meeting and made a snowman craft stick. They need to stick those in their backyards and note down the snow fallen each day and fill up the conclusion page at the end and bring it in the next meeting to get a badge.

Hope to see all the girls in the March event
Regards,
Asra

Feb CPK event (02/10/2011)

Assalamalaikum Parents,

I like to thank you all for showing your interest in California Pizza Kitchen event and coming there on time. Brownies started their activity by coloring then reciting the GS Promise and GS Law. After that girls were divided in two groups and each group had a chance to go behind the scene and observe how a commercial restaurant ran their kitchen, how they keep it clean and in order. Girls watched where they put their spices, meat, drinks and Ice. We also watched them making Pizzas in their stove. After visiting their kitchen girls sat around the table and had pizza dough, marinara souse, cheese and different toppings. Each girl made her own pizza by putting those things together, while pizzas were baking girls enjoyed their drinks, then ate pizza and they topped it of with the chary sunday ice cream. Girls had a great time and they wrote a Thank you card to the California Pizza Kitchen. At the end each girl received an Iron-on badge, a certificate/kids meal coupon and a pencil by California Pizza Kitchen.
We passed out the T- shirts to those who have not received it yet. We also collected the money from our last event of cookies sale and gave GS badges to those who had sold 8 or more cookies. If you have not returned your cookie sale money yet please do so at our next meeting and receive your badge. Girls who received two badges should wear them on their sashes or on the right sight of their T- shirts for the next meeting.
Thank you
Please keep us posted with your feedback.
